ArmsArgent two pallets and two barrulets interlaced gules between four purses stringed azure.
CrestIssuant from a circlet of open books or and Maltese crosses argent a windmill gules.
MottoIN FIDE EST ROBUR (My faith is my strength).

Mr Shannon is Almoner (blue purses and golden ledgers) of St George’s Society, New York, hence the red pallets and barrulets. The windmill of the crest has three allusion; first for New York, secondly for Mr Shannon’s Dutch ancestry and finally for his ancestor, Edward Howell who built the first mill on Long Island in 1630. The Maltese crosses are a reference to the fact that Mr Shannon is a member of the Order of St John.
