ArmsPer chevron grady of five Argent and Gules in chief St Cuthbert’s Cross proper between two Quills Gules spines Gold and in base a Lymphad Or with Flags and Pennon Argent.
CrestSet within an Ancient Crown a Loaghtan Ram sejant erect affronty Gules armed unguled and gorged with the Cardynham Ring Chain Or and holding in the dexter forehoof a Quill Gold.

The livery colours are an allusion to the national colours of the Isle of Man and the partition line reflects the shape of Tynwald Hill upon which all new Manx Laws are promulgated. The grantee was a Magistrates Clerk and a Legislator on the Island. The sheep and the lymphad refer both to the Island and a seafaring heritage whilst the Cross is both a symbol of faith and a reference to the north east of England where the grantee studied.
