Andrew Clement Gripper GRAY MA PhD
In 1968, whilst working as a postdoctoral research fellow in Scotland (the home of his great-grandfather), Dr Gray petitioned Lord Lyon for a grant of arms. As an organic Chemist, he had an interest in crystallography. Dr Gray was also intrigued by the use of symmetry as used in heraldic design. So, the accepted design applied reflection and counter changing to the accepted arms of Gray.
