ArmsPer pale or and azure, an ankh between two blacksmith’s hammers heads downwards in chevron all counterchanged.
CrestStatant upon eight arrows interlaced banded azure saltirewise points downwards an eagle displayed sable beaked and legged gules.

The tinctures or and azure are taken from the arms of the Harpur Trust, founders of Dr Smith’s has also used the medical symbol of ankh, while the blacksmith’s hammers allude to his surname and to the fact that his father was a builder. The arrows of the crest are taken from the arms of Sheffield whose University Medical School Dr Smith attended.
