The armiger’s ancestors lived at Seaton in Devon from at least the late 1500s and in the mid-1800s adopted arms in which unicorn’s heads were the principal charges. In the 1960s the arms granted to the town of Seaton incorporated a unicorn’s head in the crest as a reference to the family. The three unicorn’s heads in these arms relate to the armiger’s three children, the Hurts and Fleurs-de-lys florencée on the chapeau are references to his maternal grandparents, while the goldfinch and dandelion clock mark his love of nature.
